Your First Session: A Sacred Step
Taking the step to book a healing session - whether it's tarot, reiki, crystal healing, or any other modality - is an act of self-love and courage. It means you're ready to listen to yourself, to open up, and to receive. That readiness is the most important ingredient of all.
This guide will help you arrive at your session grounded, open, and ready to receive the most benefit from the work.
Before Your Session
1. Set a Clear Intention
Think about why you're coming. You don't need a perfectly formed question, but having a sense of what you'd like to explore, release, or understand is helpful. This intention acts as a compass for the session - it helps the practitioner and the energy know where to go.
Examples of intentions: "I want clarity about my career direction." "I want to release anxiety." "I want to understand why this relationship feels so difficult." "I just need to rest and restore."
2. Create a Comfortable Space
For online sessions, choose a quiet, private space where you won't be interrupted. If possible, dim the lights, make yourself comfortable on a bed or couch, and have a blanket nearby. Remove distractions - silence your phone (or put it on do-not-disturb after you've joined the session).
3. Hydrate & Eat Lightly
Drink plenty of water in the hours leading up to your session. Energy work flows better through a hydrated body. Avoid heavy meals for 1–2 hours before - feeling physically light supports energetic receptivity.
4. Wear Comfortable Clothing
Loose, comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict your body is ideal. You want to be able to relax completely without any physical constriction.
5. Come With Openness, Not Expectation
Release any fixed idea of what "should" happen. Healing sessions unfold in their own way, and the most profound experiences often come when we're not grasping for a specific outcome. Trust the process and allow whatever arises to be what's needed.
During Your Session
Your practitioner will guide you through everything. Follow along with any guided breathing or relaxation they offer. If emotions arise - tears, laughter, relief - allow them. They are part of the healing. You are always safe and in control, and you can speak up at any time.
After Your Session
Hydrate
Drink water immediately after your session and continue hydrating throughout the day. Energy work can be energetically detoxifying, and water supports the process.
Rest
If you feel tired after your session, rest. Your body is integrating the healing that occurred. Many people sleep deeply the night after a session.
Journal
Write down any insights, images, emotions, or thoughts that arose during or immediately after your session. These often carry deeper meaning that reveals itself over the following days.
Be Gentle With Yourself
Avoid scheduling demanding tasks or social obligations immediately after your session. Give yourself time to return to the world slowly and gently. Integration is part of the healing.
